Improving child health care in China: a comparative study
Presenter: Mr. Xu Zongyu
Discussant: Professor Frank Oberklaid
Around the world, indicators of maternal and child health (MCH) reflect the health status of women and children, as well as the general population, the quality of living and the degree of development of the country. There are many challenges involved in improving children’s health and well being in China, despite remarkable achievements in recent times. How to seize the opportunities and take effective measures to improve the accessibility and equity of child health care services in China is essential for improving the Chinese health system.
Mr Xu Zongyu is the Deputy-Director of Children’s Health Division, the Department of MCH & Community Health, Ministry of Health, China. He graduated from the Faculty of Public Health, Shan Dong Medical University in 1998 with a degree in preventive medicine. Since then, he has worked in the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, and both the rural health and community health divisions within the Ministry of Health.
